Russia Strikes Ukraine as US Tilts Toward Moscow

Russia's overnight barrage hit Ukraine on multiple fronts: strikes damaged railway lines in Vinnytsia used for civilian and military logistics, industrial enterprises in Khmelnytsky caught fire, and debris from a downed Shahed drone ignited a blaze at an entertainment center in Lutsk. No casualties were reported, but the attacks showed Moscow's reach deep into western Ukraine. The strikes came amid mixed signals from Washington. Trump's new diesel-import deal with Russia, alongside his warning that Kyiv may need a "new leader," unsettled Ukrainian and European officials who see the US tilting toward Moscow, even as a newly declassified MI5 assessment found the Kremlin deliberately tried to sway Britain's 2016 Brexit vote. Ukraine still gained ground diplomatically: the EU opened two more membership-negotiation clusters, covering the internal market and competitiveness, and the UN elected Ukraine to its Human Rights Council for 2027-2029. Elsewhere, Trump removed Kimberly Guilfoyle as ambassador to Greece over corruption allegations she denies. In Las Vegas, former gang boss Duane "Keffe D" Davis got 40 years for orchestrating Tupac Shakur's 1996 murder. In Yorkshire, officials named keeper William Chapman as the man killed when a tiger entered a restricted enclosure, and Argentina sued Britain at the UN's maritime tribunal over oil exploration near the Falklands.
