Referrals to the UK's Prevent counter-terrorism programme reached a record high in the year to September 2025, with 10,293 cases covering 9,957 individuals — a 39% rise on the previous year. The spike is partly attributed to the aftermath of the Southport attacks in July 2024, and includes 393 referrals for children under the age of 10.
