24 Wounded, 1 Dead in Kyiv as Russia Strikes Academy of Sciences and Medical Centre
Russian drone attacks struck Kyiv multiple times on September 28, 2026, killing one woman and injuring 24 people, including three children. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the toll, noting that six of the injured — including two children — were hospitalised.
Two Key Targets
A Russian drone hit the National Academy of Sciences building in the Shevchenkivsky district. One person was killed in that strike: Nataliia Bukalo, an aide to former National Security and Defence Council Secretary Volodymyr Horbulin. Six people were injured, and two were rescued from the third floor by firefighters using a ladder truck. Search-and-rescue operations continued into the evening, with one person reported missing under the rubble.
Separately, a strike on the Dobrobutt medical centre on Antonovycha Street injured seven people, six of them employees of the facility. Firefighters later confirmed rescuing one person from the wreckage.
Evening Strikes Continue
In the evening, Russian UAVs also hit a non-residential building and a warehouse in the Obolonskyi district, and later struck again in the Solomyansky district. The attacks continued overnight as part of a mass drone assault involving over 120 UAVs, 90 of which were reactive Shaheds.
