Aston Villa have reached an agreement with West Ham United to sign right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka on an initial loan deal, with an obligation to buy included at the end of the season. The 28-year-old DR Congo international has been given permission to travel to the Midlands for a medical, though exact financial terms remain undisclosed.
Wan-Bissaka had been sidelined from West Ham's opening two Championship fixtures while the clubs negotiated his departure. The defender, who previously played for Crystal Palace and Manchester United, joins an Aston Villa side managed by Unai Emery that has continued to compete in Europe. Wan-Bissaka will provide competition at right-back.
West Ham, who were relegated to the Championship last season, have been active in the market. They sold Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur for 85 million pounds and Crysencio Summerville for 60 million this summer, but captain Jarrod Bowen signed a new contract to stay with the club.
