Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded to US President Donald Trump's September 7 post on Truth Social, in which he published a photo showing a map with Greenland, among other territories, covered by the American flag.

Frederiksen said: 'The Government of Greenland and the people of Greenland have repeatedly stated that they do not wish to be Americans. I hope no one has any doubts about this — neither in the USA nor in the rest of the world. It is the people of Greenland who must decide their own future. And of course, Greenland is not for sale.'

Trump did not explain why he published the map, and no comment was attached to the post.

Iceland's Foreign Ministry summoned the US Ambassador over the same post. Meanwhile, the publication came a day after Greenland, Denmark and the EU signed an agreement on investing in a stronger satellite network, and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen separately announced an additional 200 million euros in investment in Greenland over the next two years.
