Drones Strike Ilsky Oil Refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Region, Fire Breaks Out
Drones struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, in the early hours of September 26, igniting a fire on the premises, according to local monitoring sources ASTRA and Exilenova+. The attack began around midnight.
Target and Scale
The Ilsky refinery, formally named after A.A. Shamar, is located in the village of Ilsky in the Seversky district of Krasnodar Krai, approximately 50 kilometers from the city of Krasnodar. The plant has an annual processing capacity of around 6.6 million tons of crude oil, making it one of the major refining enterprises in southern Russia.
Residents of Krasnodar confirmed hearing explosions and air defense activity overnight. The refinery's products are used, among other things, to fuel Russian military operations. Drone strikes against Russian oil infrastructure have been a recurring feature of the war, aimed at disrupting fuel supply chains that support the Russian military.
