Listed German companies have received more than 790 million euros in refunds for overpaid US tariffs, according to a report by WirtschaftsWoche published Friday. The figures are based on financial reports and additional statements from the companies. The repayments were made over recent weeks.
The largest single refund went to logistics giant DHL, whose CFO Melanie Kreis confirmed a total refund of 416 million euros. The company plans to pass those funds on to its affected customers. Other significant recipients included Siemens Healthineers with approximately 200 million euros in net tariff refunds, Sartorius with 26 million euros, and medical and safety equipment maker Dräger with around 22 million euros. Sportswear brand PUMA reported refunds of roughly 49 million euros, and commercial kitchen equipment leader Rational received 14 million euros.
The US Supreme Court ruled in mid-February that the additional tariffs imposed by President Trump using emergency legislation were unlawful, finding that Trump had exceeded his presidential authority. Between October 2025 and end of June 2026, the US government refunded approximately 81.3 billion dollars — equivalent to about 65.5 billion euros — compared to just 5.3 billion dollars in the same period a year earlier. Further German companies are expected to receive refunds before year-end.
