1 min read

An energy facility in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district was hit on Tuesday, 20 October, and the metro briefly suspended service, though trains were quickly restored, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in Telegram.

"In Shevchenkivskyi district there was a hit on one of the energy facilities. Emergency services are heading to the scene," Klitschko wrote.

Local social media pages reported that the metro and the funicular had stopped. Kyiv Metro spokeswoman Oksana Nykyforuk told Ukrainska Pravda the trains did stop, but only for a few minutes.

"There was a stop because of a loss of power. But the metro is running again, service is restored. The stop lasted about five minutes while everything was switched over," Nykyforuk said.

Debris hit a medical facility earlier in the day

Earlier on Tuesday, debris from a Russian drone fell on a medical facility in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, Klitschko said. He reported a drone hit on the top floor of the building, with partial destruction of the roof, and said emergency services were at the scene. In addition, debris fell on open ground near residential buildings in Holosiivskyi district.

Since the morning of 20 October, Russian forces have continued attacking the capital with drones. In Holosiivskyi district, a drone fell near a gas station on the edge of Kyiv Oblast, killing one person and injuring six. Earlier we also reported that the red line reopened but Chernihivska station stayed closed.
