MP Yurchyshyn Calls for Posthumous Hero of Ukraine Title for Journalist Roshchyna

Ukrainian Member of Parliament Yaroslav Yurchyshyn demanded on October 9, 2026 that the state posthumously award journalist Viktoria Roshchyna the title of Hero of Ukraine. Roshchyna, a journalist known for documenting Russian war crimes in occupied territories, died while in Russian captivity. Yurchyshyn stated that the world had recognized her heroism and that Ukraine must do the same. The MP also called for Ukraine to press international bodies for the release of other journalists still held by Russia.
