Poland PM Tusk Confronts Anti-Ukrainian Sentiment in His Country

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has taken a firm stance against rising anti-Ukrainian sentiment within Poland, warning that divisive attitudes could undermine the country's security and regional stability.

Tusk Urges National Solidarity

Speaking at a press conference in Warsaw, Tusk acknowledged that many Poles are experiencing refugee fatigue after years of hosting millions of displaced Ukrainians. However, he stressed that abandoning solidarity with Ukraine would be a strategic and moral mistake.

"Poland's security is directly linked to Ukraine's resistance," Tusk said. "Those who spread hatred toward Ukrainians are playing into Russia's hands."

Political Tensions on the Rise

Anti-Ukrainian sentiment has been stoked in recent months by opposition politicians and social media campaigns. Tusk's government has pushed back against such narratives, emphasizing Poland's historical ties to Ukraine and shared interest in defeating Russian aggression.

The prime minister also called on media outlets and civil society to counter disinformation targeting the Ukrainian community in Poland.
