A majority of Ukrainians (62%) believe that neither Ukraine nor Russia is currently winning the war, while 26% say Ukraine has the advantage and 6% cite Russia, according to a Rating poll (October 3-5, 2026). Additionally, 57% support ceasing hostilities and seeking a compromise through negotiations. Some 13% advocate continuing fighting until returning to the pre-February 23, 2022 lines of control, while 21% support fighting until reclaiming Donbas and Crimea. Regarding territorial concessions: 35% oppose them entirely, while 56% accept them given US and European security guarantees including defense financing and weapons. If territorial concessions become a peace condition, 68% believe the final decision should be made in a national referendum.
