A Russian drone attack on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, left at least 16 people dead and more than 130 injured on Saturday morning. Among the wounded were many in critical condition and more than 20 children, local authorities reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack was carried out in two waves. The first drone strike set the shopping center ablaze. About 30 minutes later, as rescue workers arrived at the scene, a second drone hit the same location. Zelenskyy described the attack as an "absolutely cynical and treacherous strike on an ordinary shopping center" and called it deliberate terror against civilians.
Kryvyi Rih is the hometown of President Zelenskyy and is located approximately 350 kilometers southeast of the capital Kyiv. The city has faced repeated Russian strikes since the start of the full-scale invasion. Images released by Ukrainian authorities showed the shopping center reduced to a charred shell, with only steel frames remaining upright. The attack renewed calls from European leaders for stronger air defense support for Ukraine.
