Russia Strikes Kyiv with 41 Missiles, UKRTAC Factory Destroyed

Russia launched one of the largest ballistic missile attacks of the war on Kyiv overnight on July 18-19, 2026, firing 41 missiles and 125 attack drones across Ukraine. The assault killed one person and wounded 16 others in the capital, while destroying a key defense manufacturing facility.

Massive Air Assault Rocks the Capital

The attack began at around 1:30 a.m. local time and continued for several hours, with explosions echoing across five districts of Kyiv. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 108 drones, one guided Kh-59/69 missile, and 17 ballistic missiles. Despite these efforts, 23 missiles penetrated defenses and struck targets across the city and surrounding region.

Fires broke out in multiple districts, damaging residential buildings, office complexes, industrial sites, a dormitory, and dozens of vehicles. The metro Lukyanivska station was temporarily closed after an explosion damaged a ground-level entrance. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a wing of an administrative building caught fire from falling debris.

UKRTAC Body Armor Factory Completely Destroyed

The most significant strike was a direct missile hit on the UKRTAC plant, one of Ukraine's key manufacturers of body armor, helmets, and tactical protective gear for the armed forces. The plant and its warehouses were completely destroyed. The company vowed to rebuild its production capacity despite the devastating loss, which directly affects the supply of critical protection equipment to frontline troops.

Ukraine Responds with Deep Strikes Inside Russia

Ukrainian forces launched retaliatory strikes deep inside Russian territory the same night, hitting an oil depot in Russia's Stavropol Krai and targeting facilities in occupied Crimea and the Luhansk region. President Zelensky described the latest Russian attack as one of the largest ballistic missile salvos ever fired at Kyiv and vowed Ukraine would continue striking back at Russian military and infrastructure targets.
