Russian Drone Strike Destroys Warehouse of Ukraine's Largest Ice Cream Maker in Zhytomyr
A Russian drone attack on September 5 completely destroyed the refrigerated storage warehouse belonging to Rud, Ukraine's largest ice cream manufacturer, in the western Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
The company confirmed the total destruction of the facility, which served as a critical link in its cold supply chain. The strike caused significant economic damage and disrupted production and distribution operations for one of Ukraine's most prominent food brands.
Rud, founded in 1991, is widely recognized as the market leader in ice cream production in Ukraine and exports its products to numerous countries. The destruction of its Zhytomyr warehouse represents a major blow to the company's infrastructure and the broader Ukrainian food industry.
Russian drone attacks on Ukrainian civilian and industrial infrastructure have intensified in recent months, targeting energy facilities, grain silos, and manufacturing plants across the country. Critics note that such strikes violate international humanitarian law by deliberately targeting civilian economic assets.
Ukrainian authorities are documenting the damage as part of ongoing efforts to hold Russia accountable for wartime destruction through international legal mechanisms. Rud has not yet disclosed the full financial extent of the losses or its plans for resuming normal operations.
