Russian forces carried out a rocket strike on a residential area in Kharkiv's Novobavarskyi district on the afternoon of October 20, injuring nine people, according to the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov, Suspilne Kharkiv citing Mayor Ihor Terekhov, and the State Emergency Service.

"On October 20 at about 3:30 p.m., Russian forces struck the Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv. According to preliminary data, a Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher was used for the attack," the prosecutor's office said.

Casualties and damage

Seven of the nine victims were wounded or injured, and two women were diagnosed with an acute stress reaction. The attack completely destroyed two private houses, which can no longer be rebuilt. Windows in a multi-storey building were also blown out, and other private houses, power lines, cars and a production building of a civilian company were damaged.

"There was a rocket attack from the Russian Federation. There were two hits. The first hit was on open ground. The second was near private houses," Terekhov explained. In one of the destroyed houses at the time of the strike were a municipal company employee and his mother; both were hospitalised.

The next night, drones attacked Kharkiv Oblast again: two elderly people were killed in Korotych. More in our world section.
