Senator Coons Presses SpaceX on Who Limited Starlink in Ukraine

1 min read

US Democratic Senator Chris Coons asked Elon Musk's company SpaceX to explain who decided to restrict Starlink service in Ukraine and why, in a post on X.

"As Trump continues to bow to Putin, he's putting Ukraine at even greater risk in its fight for freedom by restricting access to the technology Ukraine uses to intercept Russian missile attacks, endangering countless Ukrainian lives and undermining Ukraine's ability to defend itself," Coons wrote. "We demand answers from SpaceX on who ordered these restrictions and why."

White House distances itself

Axios earlier reported that the White House said it was not involved in the restrictions on the Starlink satellite system in Ukraine and that it does not control SpaceX.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier that the US decision to impose Starlink restrictions on Ukraine was a mistake that would cost lives. We reported that Starlink and Starshield cut out at 130–161 km/h on the front, according to Zelensky.

He also said he would discuss intelligence sharing and access to Starlink with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
