Seven Killed as Drone Strikes Crowded Black Sea Beach in Russia

A drone struck a crowded holiday beach near the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka on Russia's Black Sea coast on Monday, killing seven people including three children and injuring 40 others, according to local authorities. Footage Shows Moment of Impact

Social media footage verified by the BBC showed the drone hurtling towards a cliffside before crashing in a fireball on the beach below, with tourists watching from the shore and the water. Eyewitnesses told Russian media that no air-raid sirens sounded before the strike.

"We covered ourselves with sun loungers, and did not see where it exploded," one holidaymaker said. "This all happened in front of my children. My child is having a nervous breakdown," added another witness.

Governor Kondratyev accused Ukraine of "a deliberate strike on civilians." Ukraine has not commented on the incident. Both sides officially deny targeting civilians, and the exact intended target of the drone remains unclear. Some Ukrainian Telegram channels claimed the crash resulted from electronic warfare that jammed the drone's control signal. Several eyewitnesses quoted by Russian media described hearing gunfire before the explosion, suggesting air defences attempted to intercept the drone.
