Sybiha on Bulgaria drone attacks: need to eliminate the source of danger
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha commented on Russian drone attacks that struck ships in Bulgaria's Black Sea exclusive economic zone, calling them a direct expansion of Russia's war beyond Ukraine's borders and calling on Western partners to take decisive action.
Sybiha stated that the attacks, which sank one vessel and left crew members missing, demonstrate that Russia's aggression does not stop at Ukraine's borders. He argued that the only way to ensure security in the Black Sea and beyond is to help Ukraine eliminate Russia's capacity to conduct such strikes — through continued and enhanced military and weapons support.
The foreign minister called on NATO members and EU partners to accelerate arms deliveries, particularly air defense systems and long-range weapons that could neutralize the Russian military capabilities responsible for such attacks.
Bulgaria has convened its national security council in response to the incident, and several NATO allies have expressed strong condemnation. The attacks mark a significant escalation in the Black Sea region, where Russian naval and aerial operations have continued throughout the war.
