Ukraine Foreign Ministry Confirms Release of UP Journalist Tkach in Vienna

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on October 9, 2026 that Ukrainska Pravda journalist Mykhailo Tkach was released after being detained by Austrian authorities in Vienna. Ukrainian diplomats are continuing to work on clarifying the situation regarding cameraman Yaroslav Bondarenko, who was also present during the incident. Earlier, the Ukrainska Pravda editor-in-chief reported that while Tkach was released after more than 12 hours of detention, the newsroom had not yet been able to reach him.
