Ukraine FP-9 Ballistic Missile Able to Reach Moscow Ready This Autumn

1 min read

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the FP-9 ballistic missile, which developer Fire Point says can strike Moscow, will be ready this autumn. Zelensky said he personally called Fire Point leadership: "I told them: where is my FP-9? We need the FP-9."

FP-7 Already in Combat

Ukraine this week announced the first combat use of the domestically produced FP-7 ballistic missile, range approximately 250 km. The FP-9 is designed for a much longer range; the manufacturer claims it can reach Moscow.

Air Defence Ammunition Running Low

Zelensky disclosed Ukraine relies heavily on F-16 and MiG fighters to intercept around 60 percent of Russian jet-propelled drones, but 20-millimetre ammunition stocks are nearly exhausted. Kyiv is urgently pursuing alternatives including electronic warfare.

New Interceptors in October

The first batch of low-cost air defence missiles against new Shahed drones is expected in the second half of October. Five new interceptor models are in development; two showed about 30 percent success rate in tests. "We will need to scale up. I hope through all these measures we will find a way out," Zelensky said.
