UN warns of catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza as aid access blocked

1 min read

United Nations humanitarian agencies released urgent warnings about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with reports of acute shortages of essential goods and medical supplies as aid convoys continued to face severe access restrictions.

Humanitarian situation

UNRWA and OCHA reported that hospitals are functioning at diminished capacity due to medicine and fuel shortages. Food insecurity has reached alarming levels with a significant portion of Gaza's population facing acute hunger. Clean water infrastructure remains severely damaged from ongoing hostilities.

International response

UN Secretary-General called for immediate unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza. Several countries have announced emergency aid packages. Diplomatic pressure has been mounting on parties to the conflict to allow greater humanitarian access, though results have been limited.
