UP Editor: Journalist Tkach Released but Unreachable, Cameraman Bondarenko Wounded

Ukrainska Pravda's editor-in-chief reported on October 9, 2026 that journalist Mykhailo Tkach was released after more than 12 hours of detention by Austrian authorities in Vienna. However, the newsroom has been unable to establish contact with him following his release. Cameraman Yaroslav Bondarenko, who was present during the incident, sustained injuries. Ukrainian diplomats are working to clarify both situations. The detention of the Ukrainian journalists occurred during what appeared to be a routine activity in Vienna.
