Zelensky Departs Ukraine via Rzeszów for First Time Since White Eagle Order Dispute

1 min read

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky departed Ukraine via Rzeszów airport in southern Poland on October 14, his first use of the transit hub since a diplomatic rift with Poland over the White Eagle Order. He is traveling to London.

Poland's refusal to award Zelensky the White Eagle Order — one of the country's highest honors — was reportedly linked to a Ukrainian military unit bearing the name of the UPA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army), whose wartime role is a sensitive historical issue in Polish-Ukrainian relations.

Zelensky is expected to hold meetings with British officials in London.
