Zelensky: Energy Truce or Leaders' Meeting Would Signal Russia's Peace Readiness

President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that an energy ceasefire or a trilateral meeting of leaders could be a sign that Russia is ready for peace, he said in an interview with the TSN-Tyzhden programme on Sunday, October 25.

"An energy ceasefire as a first step... I think that is a signal," he said.

A leaders' meeting

Agreement on a trilateral meeting at leader level could be another signal of the Kremlin's readiness, Zelensky said: "I think it can happen." He recalled that the Americans had signalled something for December, around the G20 meeting in Miami, Florida.

"They received our answer through various channels, public and non-public. We are ready if the Russians are ready," the president said. More in our Politics section.
