Zelensky: Ukraine Ready for Energy Ceasefire But Russia Just Hit Kharkiv Power Plant
President Zelensky endorsed the energy ceasefire announced by US President Trump, saying Ukraine is ready to stop striking Russian energy infrastructure and expects Russia to do the same. However, he noted that throughout the day Russian Shahed drones were flying and strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities continued, including a hit on Kharkiv’s TEC-5 power station that occurred just as he was speaking. Zelensky said Russia struck over 200 energy generation and transmission objects during the week and over 17 gas and oil facilities, killing more than 150 Ukrainians and wounding over 700. He said the Armed Forces of Ukraine “received all relevant orders” and that Ukraine would honour the ceasefire if Russia did. Ukraine has proposed many de-escalation steps, but Putin had rejected each one. Zelensky expressed hope that Putin would “say something other than murders and deception” in response to America.
