A CalMac ferry travelling from Brodick to Ardrossan was evacuated after a bomb threat was reported on board, while separately a passenger was rescued from the sea, according to the ferry operator.
The MV Caledonian Isles, one of the main vessels serving the island of Arran off the west coast of Scotland, was on its 16:40 sailing when both incidents occurred. Police and coastguard units were scrambled to respond.
The bomb threat prompted a full evacuation of the vessel and passengers were transferred safely to shore while security teams swept the ship for any suspicious devices. Authorities confirmed no device was found.
The person who went overboard was recovered from the water by emergency responders and their condition was reported to be stable. The Arran route is one of Scotland's busiest ferry routes, particularly popular with tourists during the summer months.
CalMac said it was cooperating fully with police and coastguard authorities. Services on the route were disrupted as a result of the incident, with passengers advised to check for updates before travelling.
