A Russian double-tap drone strike has killed at least 15 people and injured more than 130 others, including 23 children, after targeting a busy shopping centre in Ukraine, according to regional officials.
The attack, described as a deliberate double-tap strike — a tactic where a second weapon is launched shortly after the first to maximise casualties among first responders — caused widespread destruction inside and around the commercial building.
Ukrainian emergency services rushed to the scene to pull survivors from the rubble. Medics treated dozens of injured civilians at nearby hospitals, while authorities confirmed the death toll was likely to rise as search-and-rescue operations continued through the night.
Regional authorities condemned the strike as a deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on international partners to provide additional air defence systems to protect populated areas from further strikes.
The incident marks one of the deadliest attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine in recent months and has drawn sharp condemnation from Western governments and international human rights organisations.
