Germany proposes establishing Patriot PAC-3 production in Europe

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius presented a proposal to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in Washington last week to establish production of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems in Europe, Ukrainska Pravda reported on September 23.

The proposal is part of broader European efforts to increase domestic defense manufacturing capacity and reduce reliance on US supply chains for critical air defense components. Patriot PAC-3 interceptors are used extensively in Ukraine's air defense network. The initiative comes amid growing discussions about Ukraine potentially receiving licenses to produce Patriot missiles domestically.
