Israeli forces advance in southern Lebanon as ceasefire talks stall

1 min read

Israeli ground forces pushed deeper into southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and positions, as fighting continued for a second consecutive week. Ceasefire negotiations mediated by the United States and France remained at an impasse.

Military operations

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported strikes on Hezbollah weapons depots and command positions across southern Lebanon. Lebanese villages near the border came under artillery fire and airstrikes. Hezbollah continued firing rockets and anti-tank missiles toward northern Israel.

Diplomatic efforts

US and French envoys continued shuttle diplomacy between Beirut and Jerusalem but failed to bridge gaps on key ceasefire conditions, including Hezbollah's disarmament north of the Litani River and the return of displaced civilians on both sides of the border.
