Arakhamia: Oleshky Ceasefire Will Last Until November 1
The ceasefire around the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky in Kherson region will last until 22:59 on November 1, said Davyd Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People faction.
"Today at 03:00 Kyiv time the largest quiet regime on the longest stretch of the front in southern Ukraine began. This is the biggest de-escalation since 2022. The quiet regime will last from October 27 until 22:59 on November 1," Arakhamia said. He added that each such de-escalation effort "brings the long-awaited peace in Ukraine closer".
How the truce came about
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets announced the start of the ceasefire in Oleshky from 3:00 on October 27; see Oleshky ceasefire begins for humanitarian mission. Russia's Defence Ministry confirmed the introduction of the "quiet regime".
Earlier, the White House said that Melania Trump had secured a truce between Russia and Ukraine in Oleshky, a city now suffering a humanitarian catastrophe. On the eve, the Ukrainian and Russian general staffs both said that from the night of October 27 a ceasefire would be introduced in a designated area to carry out a humanitarian operation in Oleshky. Ukraine's General Staff had also warned of rumours ahead of the ceasefire.
