Italy's Tajani: New Military Aid Package for Ukraine Is Ready
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Monday, 26 October, that a new military aid package for Ukraine is already ready, European Pravda reported, citing the ANSA agency.
Tajani, leader of the centre-right Forza Italia party, was responding to his colleague, Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, who had said he would work to end Italy's economic and military support for Kyiv.
"My position is well known: we are on Ukraine's side and will support it for as long as necessary. The next military aid package is already ready, and we will send it to Kyiv as soon as possible," Tajani said.
The report adds that Salvini was criticised at the meeting by moderate party members unhappy with its further shift to the right.
Background
Salvini was recently re-elected leader of the far-right League, part of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's governing coalition. Last autumn he said further aid to Ukraine could "fuel corruption". For more, see World.
