Emmanuel Macron's security adviser Emmanuel Bonne traveled to Kyiv to participate in talks alongside US special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on September 6. The visit served two purposes: receiving an American briefing on their conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, and coordinating next steps among the allied parties.

The four countries — Ukraine, France, Germany, and Britain — plan to jointly draft their negotiating position before entering direct discussions with Russia.
