Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico did not attend the Carpathian Initiative summit taking place from September 18-20 in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, despite having previously stated his intention to visit Ukraine. Slovak media had reported he planned to arrive on September 18.
According to sources, Slovakia will be represented at the summit at a diplomatic level lower than prime minister. The Carpathian Initiative is the first-ever summit initiated by Zelensky bringing together all countries, regions, and communities of the Carpathian region as part of the newly launched Carpathian Eight (C8) format.
