Zelensky Launches Carpathian Eight — New Regional Cooperation Format

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the launch of a new regional cooperation format — the Carpathian Eight (C8), uniting Ukraine and seven European countries along with the EU. The first summit was held in the Ukrainian Carpathians on September 18.

Direct quote: “We are launching a new format C8 — the Carpathian Eight — bringing together us and our neighbors in Europe: Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and of course the European Union as a whole,” Zelensky stated.

According to the President, this regional cooperation format aims to bring the named countries closer together and create an additional element of interaction at the EU level, covering security, energy, logistics, and cross-border economic cooperation.
